It was Daniel’s practice, three times a day, to go to an upstairs room in his apartment, open the windows facing Jerusalem, get down on his knees, and pray to the one true God. No doubt, Daniel prayed at other times also. He probably prayed throughout the day
Waiting is the hardest thing to do when you are trusting God. And it is very tempting to grow weary and lose hope.
I was thinking about the growth of a bamboo tree and how it can so easily represent what God is doing in our life. It may look like nothing is happening, but in God’s “suddenly” HIS will, will begin to unfold in your life!
Jesus Christ provided the ultimate example of this type of love. On the cross He paid the price for the sins of the entire world. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Jesus kept no record of wrongs; rather, He prayed, “Father, forgive them,” from the cross as He died (Luke 23:34)
What a delusion it is when we continue to look at other people’s lives and wish you had what they had! It is so easy with human nature to peek over into the lives of other people that we admire or perceive are living the life we wish we were living. Whether it is a better marriage, children, the house you live in or your status in life.
In 2 Corinthians 10:12 it says, “But, they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise".
I got the news that I was going to be moving into a new house and I became SO excited about the change that I immediately starting seeing all my stuff in the new house, what I was going to change and how I was going to live!
So, of course, my administrative OCD kicked in and I had to pack RIGHT NOW! Forcing myself to downsize, to only my daily essentials, for the next two weeks. So, I consolidated everything into one drawer until the move.
Lasting joy is possible in every season when we follow God’s truths.
God calls us to follow Him and to trust in His wisdom (as we read in Proverbs 3:5-6) even if it isn’t easy or it doesn’t make sense.
Abraham was a perfect example for us to follow when it looks like in the natural what God promised you would never happen. It may look like what God said is dead and has passed you by; but what I loved best about this verse was that Abraham noticed his natural ability had faded away, but it never robbed Him of his faith in what God spoke to him.
